Signing In to the Capture Mobile App

You can install the Capture Mobile app either as a standalone application or with WhatsApp Business. If you have installed Capture Mobile with WhatsApp Business, see Understanding the Capture Mobile App for more information about the differences between WhatsApp Business and Capture Mobile communications in the app.

This topic explains the prerequisites and procedure to install the Capture Mobile app.

To sign in to the Capture Mobile application with a new number:

  • Android:

    1. Open Google Play Store on your mobile device.

    2. Tap the Search tab.

    3. Enter Capture Mobile in the Search bar.

    4. Tap Install.

       
      The app downloads and installs on your mobile device.

    5. Tap Open.

  • iOS

    1. Open App Store on your mobile device.

    2. Tap the Search tab.

    3. Enter Capture Mobile app in the Search bar.

    4. Tap GET.

    5.  Tap Install.

    6. After the app installs, tap the icon to open to the app.

Note

On an iOS device, the app prompts you to enable notification permissions. Tap Allow to enable this permission. The permission is essential for the app to send you alerts and notifications when you receive messages or calls on Capture Mobile.Smarsh sign-in screen requesting country code and phone number for notifications.

To sign in to Capture Mobile app with a new number:

  1. Enter your mobile number in the provided field. The country code is automatically picked based on your location.

  2. Tap SIGN IN.

  3.  You will receive an SMS with a one-time activation code. Enter the code in the provided field and tap Activate.

    Important

    • The one-time activation code expires in 00:01:55.

    • If you do not receive the activation code, tap Call Me to send an automated email message to the Smarsh support team. They will assist you in resolving the issue.

    This completes the sign-up procedure.

  4. Turn off battery optimization to receive messages and calls in sleep mode.

    1. Tap GO TO SETTINGS.

    2. In the Optimize battery usage screen, tap the drop-down and select All.

    3. Search the Capture Mobile app.

    4. Turn-off battery optimization for Capture Mobile.

      Note

      • Tap READ MORE to know more on background settings.

      • Tap DON'T ASK ME AGAIN if you have already removed background restrictions for the app.

Sign In to an Existing Account

An administrator onboards employees to Capture Mobile app with their enterprise numbers. If you are an administrator, contact your Smarsh representative to onboard your employees.

The enterprise number can be dedicated to a specific country or used worldwide. If the enterprise number can be used word wide, it is considered an international number and can be used for countries that don’t have a dedicated number.

After an employee is onboarded to Capture Mobile app, the employee receives an email with their account information. The email contains the enterprise number configured for the employee.

Sign In on iOS Devices

  1. Open App Store on your mobile device.

  2. Tap the Search tab.

  3. Enter Capture Mobile in the Search bar.

  4. Tap GET.

  5. Tap Install.

  6. After the app installs, tap the icon to open to the app.

  7. Allow the Notifications permission to receive notifications from the app.

  8. Enter your mobile number to verify your number and register your device. An SMS with an activation PIN is sent to your mobile number.

    Note

    You should register with your mobile number even if your account has an enterprise number.

  9. Enter the activation PIN received and click Next.

  10. If you have backed up your previous chats in iCloud, you are prompted to restore them during the sign-in process. Tap Restore or Skip.

  11. The application prompts that an enterprise number is allocated and enabled for your account by the administrator. Tap OK.

  12. The application requests access to your phone's microphone to make calls. Allow this permission.

    You have successfully activated Capture Mobile app on your iOS phone. The Chat window on the application is displayed. You are now all set to use the application to send and receive SMS, media, and calls.

Sign In on Android Devices

  1. Open Google Play Store on your mobile device.

  2. Tap the Search tab.

  3. Enter Capture Mobile app in the Search bar.

  4. Tap Install.

    The app downloads and installs on your mobile device.

  5. Tap Open.

  6. Enter your mobile number and tap Sign Up.

    An SMS with a one-time activation code is sent to your mobile number. If you do not receive the SMS, tap Call Me to receive the activation code through a phone call.

  7. Enter the activation code and tap Activate.

  8. Tap AGREE to allow Capture Mobile to collect your contact information.

  9. Tap Allow to enable Capture Mobile to access your contacts.

  10. Tap Yes to allow Capture Mobile to read your contacts names.

  12. If you have backed up your previous chats to a Google Drive account, you are prompted to restore them during the sign-in process.

    • To restore your previous messages:

      1. Select your Google account.

      2. Allow the app to access photos, media, and files.

      3. Tap RESTORE.

    • Tap SKIP to not restore the messages.

  13. Turn off your device’s battery optimization setting to receive messages in sleep mode.

    1. Tap GO TO SETTINGS.

    2. Select the Capture Mobile app.

    4. Tap back to return to setting up the app.

  14. Enable permissions to display the Capture Mobile app over other apps.

    1. Tap OK.

    2. In the Appear on top screen, toggle the switch to on for Capture Mobile.

You have successfully activated Capture Mobile app on your Android phone. You are now all set to use the application to send and receive SMS, media, and calls. Click Start Messaging and the Chat window on the application is displayed.

 

Sign in Using Single Sign-on (SSO)

You can sign in to Capture Mobile app using SSO.

iOS

  1. Open App Store on your mobile device.

  2. Tap the Search tab.

  3. Enter Capture Mobile in the Search bar.

  4. Tap GET.
    The app downloads to your mobile device.

  5. Tap Install.
    The app installs on your mobile device.

  6. After the app installs, tap the icon to open to the app.

  7. Allow the Notifications permission to receive notifications from the app.

  8. Enter your mobile number to verify your number to register your device and click Next. An SMS with an activation PIN is sent to your mobile number.

    Note

  9. Enter the activation PIN received and click Next.

  10. If you have backed up your previous chats in iCloud, you are prompted to restore them during the sign-in process. Tap Restore or Skip.

  11. The application prompts that an enterprise number is allocated and enabled for your account by the administrator. Tap OK.

  12. The application requests access to your phone's microphone to make calls. Allow this permission.

  13. The application requests access to your contacts. Click Continue.

  14. Enter your Microsoft email address and click Next.

Android

  1. Open Google Play Store on your mobile device.

  2. Tap the Search tab.

  3. Enter Capture Mobile app in the Search bar.

  4. Tap Install.

    The app downloads and installs on your mobile device.

  5. Tap Open.

  6. Enter your mobile number and tap SIGN IN.

    An SMS with a one-time activation code is sent to your mobile number. If you do not receive the SMS, tap Call Me to receive the activation code through a phone call.

  7. Enter the activation code and tap Activate.

  8. If you have backed up your previous chats to a Google Drive account, you are prompted to restore them during the sign-in process.

    • To restore your previous messages:

      1. Select your Google account.

      2. Allow the app to access photos, media, and files.

      3. Tap RESTORE.

    • Tap SKIP to not restore the messages.

  9. The application requests access to the following. You must allow these permissions:

    • Access to your address book data to read your contacts' names.

    • Access to photos, media, and files.

  10. Enter your Microsoft email address and click Next.

  12. The application requests access to the following. You must allow these permissions:

    1. Permission to archive messages and calls to your company's archive.

    2. Permission to enable display over other apps.

You have successfully activated Capture Mobile app on your Android phone using SSO. You are now all set to use the application to send and receive SMS, media, and calls.
