Security Upgrade for Mobile Capture

Smarsh has introduced several key security enhancements in Mobile Capture for Android and iOS. These security enhancements reinforce data protection, mitigate cybersecurity risks, and further align with industry-standards. The current version of the application is not compatible with the new security enhancements. As a result, you are required to upgrade to the latest version of the application at the earliest. The upgrade ensure there is no data loss and all chat history is retained.

Important
Upgrading the application to include the new security enhancements is a one-time action. All future upgrades or installations follow the standard procedure outlined in the product documentation.
Users who do not upgrade to the latest version of the app may experience unexpected behavior, as the current version is not aligned with the updated security policy.
If users cannot receive SMS or email messages at the address registered with Capture Mobile, administrators must contact Smarsh Support before deploying the latest version of the app.

Upgrading to the Latest Version

When the new version of Mobile Capture with the latest security enhancements is released, all existing users are automatically logged out of the application and prompted to reauthenticate. To log in to the app and reauthenticate:

Do not uninstall the app.
Upgrade to the latest version of the app through the public store.

Note
The calling feature is currently disabled. The absence of the Calls tab is expected behavior and not a bug.

Upgrading Mobile Capture on iOS

You can download the latest app version from the Appstore.

To upgrade:

Open the Mobile Capture app on the App Store, and tap Update.
After the installation is complete, tap the Capture Mobile icon to launch the updated version of the application.
Enter your phone number and tap Sign in.

You will receive the verification code as an SMS or email based on the admin settings for your organization. The verification code is a random 8-character alphanumeric containing numbers, and upper and lower-case letters.
Note
The verification code is valid for a few minutes, so ensure to enter it before it expires.

Enter the activation code or OTP in the provided field and tap Activate.

You are prompted to grant permissions.
Grant the required permissions.

The app opens with all your chat history allowing you to continue conversations.

After upgrading to the latest version and launching the app, the following screen is displayed. Log in again to access the app

If you enter the wrong OTP, the following error is displayed:

Important
Smarsh recommends that you keep the app open in the foreground for at least 10 minutes after upgrading to the latest version. After 10 minutes, do not force close the app, but allow it to run in the background.
