Applicable to Administrators
This topic lists the limitations in WhatsApp Cloud Capture:
WhatsApp Cloud Capture does not archive View Once media due to privacy restrictions imposed by Meta. Meta prevents downloading View Once media on WhatsApp Web, as indicated by the following notifications:
WhatsApp Web: "You received a view once photo. For added privacy, you can only open it on your phone." is displayed.

WhatsApp Business: "Waiting for this message. Check your phone."

As a result, WhatsApp Cloud Capture cannot archive View Once media from the web session linked to the connected mobile session. Instead, a generic message is displayed in place of the media:
The media was sent as 'View Once' by the sender and cannot be archived.
Users must connect to WhatsApp Cloud Capture through the Linked Devices feature on WhatsApp or WhatsApp Business.
WhatsApp Cloud archives only chat messages, including one-to-one, group chat, and broadcast messages. WhatsApp calls are not archived.
Broadcast messages are archived as individual messages for each recipient, and not in a single thread.
If a user does not use WhatsApp or WhatsApp Business from 14 days. All linked devices and the parallel web session are disconnected. User must re-scan the QR code to connect and archive messages.
The encryption keys are refreshed every 3 to 9 months. Users will receive an alert to reconnect to the parallel web session when the encryption keys are refreshed.
WhatsApp Cloud Capture does not archive incoming status messages (also known as WhatsApp stories), including reactions and deletions.
WhatsApp Cloud Capture archives only the administrators of a community and not the complete list of participants.
When Meta hides certain participants within a community or in its group messages (not the Community info UI), WhatsApp Cloud Capture archives only their 14-digit login ID and not the phone number.
WhatsApp Cloud Capture archives duplicate community communications due to the way data is received from Meta.
WhatsApp Cloud Capture does not currently archive community announcements.
When communication is re-archived automatically after reconnection, the following communication types are not archived:
