Verifying User Accounts

Applicable to End Users

Before adding external contacts, the user's account name must be verified as their real name.

Important Notice for Users in the US and France

To verify your identity and access the app, you must temporarily select a country other than the United States or France in the Region section (for example, select Canada instead of the United States, or Switzerland instead of France). After completing the verification process, you can switch back to your actual location (United States or France).

If you select the United States or France from the Region dropdown, your identity verification process will be blocked. You will not be able to use your current mobile number to complete the verification required for chatting with WeChat users or contacts outside your organization.

Additional Notes and Troubleshooting for Real-Name Verification

Document Requirements

For real-name verification, users must submit the following documents:

  • A valid Driver’s License or Passport

  • A Bank Statement or Phone Bill issued within the last 3 months

Name Matching Requirements

The name submitted for verification must exactly match the name shown on all supporting documents. This includes:

  • The order of names

  • Use of a middle name

  • Uppercase and lowercase characters

Any mismatch may result in verification failure.

Bank or Phone Bill Requirements

The following conditions must be met when submitting a bank statement or phone bill:

  • The user’s name must be clearly visible.

  • The document must be dated within the last 3 months.

  • Tencent allows uploading only one image for bank or phone bill verification (typically from a mobile device).

  • The image resolution must be clear, and all text must be legible.

  • If the document contains multiple pages, all pages must be combined into a single image file.
Ensure that each page is fully visible and not cropped. Submitting incomplete or cropped pages may lead to verification delays or rejection.

Note
If the document is in PDF format, convert it into a single long image before uploading.

WeChat Real-Name Verification Requirement

After completing the verification steps, some users may be prompted to complete WeChat real-name verification before the WeCom verification can be finalized.

If you plan to communicate with external users (for example, WeChat customers), you must bind your WeCom account to a real-name verified WeChat account. Tencent may require this binding even if all document requirements have been met.

Preparation

  • Download the WeChat app

  • Register a WeChat account (if you do not already have one)

Binding and Verification

  1. In WeCom, click Settings (gear icon) > Account & Security and check whether a WeChat account is bound.
If the status shows Unbound, tap to bind the account.

  2. In WeChat, complete real-name verification by navigating to:
Me > Pay and Services > Wallet > ID Info (at the bottom of the page).
This step requires uploading a photo of a valid ID (a passport is recommended for overseas users).

  3. Sign out of WeCom and sign in again, selecting Continue with WeChat on the login page.

  4. If the identity still shows as not verified, re-submit the verification documents. This typically completes the process.

If Verification Is Still Rejected

If verification continues to fail, submit a support ticket and include the following details:

  • User’s name as shown on the ID

  • User’s WeCom phone number

  • User’s WeCom Company ID
(WeCom Admin Portal > My Company > Scroll to the bottom)

  • User’s WeChat ID or WeChat phone number (if available)

  • User’s time zone

  • Screenshots of the error messages

  • If escalation to Tencent Support is required, a video recording of the login attempt may also be requested
