Sending a Message with Attachments

Applicable to End Users

You can send attachments such as images, documents, audio, and video files on Mobile Capture. The recipients will receive a link from where they can download the attachments.

The following types of files can be exchanged in Mobile Capture:

.mid;.mp3;.wav;.amr;.awb;.3gp;.3gpp;.ac3;.m4a;.midi;.au;.snd;.aif;.ra;.jpeg;.pjpeg;.jpg;.gif;.bmp;.tiff;.tif;.png;.svg;.mp4;.m4p;.m4b;.m4r;.m4v;.3gp1;.mp4v;.mp4v-es; .avi;.qt;.mov;.mpeg;.mpg;.mpe;.ogv;.doc;.xls;.csv;.ppt;.pot;.pps;.pdf;.docx;.xlsx;.pptx;.log;.txt;.smil;.smi;.html;.htm;.xhtml;.xht;.css;.xml;.xsl;.js;.psd;.zip;.ps; .eps;.ai;.tar;.gtar;.gzip;.rtf;.json;.swf;.vcf;.vcs;.ics

The following types of files cannot be exchanged in Mobile Capture:

.sys;.hlp;.ocx;.class;.dll;.dmg;.drv;.grp;.ovl;.vdl;.vxd;.je;.shd;.vba;.wst;.jar;.ps1xml;.ps2;.ps2xml;.psc1;.psc2;.msh;.msh1;.msh2;.mshxml;.msh1xml;.msh2xml;.pcd;.wsh;.htx;.asp;.aspx;.php3;.php

If you attach a file format that is not supported by Mobile Capture, the following error message is displayed:

Prerequisite

Ensure that your account is enabled to send SMS with links to attachments. If you are unable to send attachments as links, contact your administrator.

To SMS with links:

1. Tap the New Chat  icon.

2. Add a recipient.

3. Tap the attachment icon.
   

4. Select and add an attachment to share.

5. Tap the Send  icon.

The SMS is delivered to the recipient with a link from where they can download the attachment.

Viewing the Attachments

To view the attachments in the SMS, tap the link in the SMS. A browser window opens displaying the attached file.
