Handling Call Waiting

Prev Next

Applicable to End Users

Capture Mobile app supports the following types of phone calls:

  • IP calls with users who have the Capture Mobile app.

  • PSTN calls with users who do not have the Capture Mobile app.

Capture Mobile app supports handling incoming and outgoing calls simultaneously. This topic explains how end users can manage call waiting for incoming and outgoing calls.

Simultaneous calls behave differently based on the type of call:

  • Capture Mobile app IP calls

  • Native PSTN calls

  • Third-party IP calls such as Skype and WhatsApp

Call Waiting in iOS

On an iOS device, Capture Mobile app supports CallKit. While Capture Mobile app is used when the phone is unlocked, CallKit is available when the phone is locked.

Call Type

Call Handling

Incoming PSTN call while Capture Mobile app is engaged in an active call.

  • To accept the call, tap Hold & Accept. This places the Capture Mobile app call on hold.

  • To swap between calls, tap swap. You can swap between the Capture Mobile app call and the PSTN call.

Outgoing PSTN call while the Capture Mobile app call is active.

This is similar to the incoming PSTN call.

Incoming Capture Mobile app call while engaged in an active call.

  • The new incoming Capture Mobile app call is automatically rejected and routed to voice mail.

  • A missed call notification is available at the following places:

    • If the caller has left a voicemail, the voicemail is sent to Capture Mobile app as a voicemail thread. For more details on voicemail, see Voicemail.

    • A missed call notification appears in the iPhone native dialer.

    • A missed call notification appears in Capture Mobile app recent calls.

    • A missed call notification appears in the chat thread of the caller.

Placing a call while you are already on an active call is not supported in Capture Mobile app.

Incoming call from a third-party app that supports CallKit, such as Skype, while Capture Mobile app is engaged in an active call.

The call is treated as an incoming PSTN call but with some visual differences.

  • To accept the call, tap Hold & Accept. This places the Capture Mobile app call on hold.

  • To swap between calls, tap swap. You can swap between the Capture Mobile app call and the PSTN call.

Note

If you receive an incoming call from a third-party app that does not support CallKit, such as Telegram, the call connects. However, the Capture Mobile app call is not placed on hold. The Capture Mobile app call resumes as usual and the second call is connected without audio.

The following calls look similar to an incoming third-party call and are handled by CallKit:

  • Outgoing third-party IP call while Capture Mobile app is in an active call.

  • Incoming Capture Mobile app call while a third-party app is in an active call.

  • Outgoing Capture Mobile app call while a third-party app is in an active call.
