In WebChat, you can create the following types of groups:
Group: A group of internal contacts, or a mixed group of internal and external contacts. A group can have up to 255 members.
WhatsApp group: A group of one WhatsApp contact and up to 249 internal contacts, including you.
Creating a Group
To create a group:
Next to the search box, select Compose Message.
Click New text message.
In the New chat screen, click New Group.
From the list of eligible contacts, select the members that you want to add to the group. Internal contacts display the label Int next to their names. Contacts who are not eligible appear dimmed.
The selected members appear under Group members, together with the number of selected members. To find a contact, enter the name in the search box. To remove a member, select the contact again, or select the X next to the member name under Group members.Click > button. The > button is available after you add at least one member.
(Optional) Select Add Group Image to add an image to the group.
Enter the group name in the Group name box, and then click
. The 
button is available after you enter a group name.
The group is created and appears in the chat list.
Note
If you select five or more members, the Group members list is collapsed by default. Expand the list to view all selected members.
Creating a WhatsApp Group
A WhatsApp group includes one WhatsApp contact and up to 249 internal contacts, including you.
To create a WhatsApp group:
Next to the search box, select Compose Message.
Select New WhatsApp.
In the New chat screen, click New Group.
From the list of contacts, select one WhatsApp contact. To find a contact, enter the name in the search box. WebChat displays the phone number of the selected WhatsApp contact.
On the Add internal members screen, select the internal members that you want to add to the group. Internal contacts display the label Int next to their names. You can add up to 248 internal members, because you are also an internal member of the group.
Enter the group name, and then click
. The group information lists the WhatsApp contact above the internal members.If you already have an active chat with the selected WhatsApp contact, the Transfer this chat? message appears. Confirm the transfer to move the private chat to the new group. For more information, see Transferring a WhatsApp Chat.
Note
A WhatsApp group cannot include both the WhatsApp account and the WebChat account of the same user.
Only users with version 5.04.12 or later of the Mobile Capture app for Android, or version 5.7.21 or later for iOS can join a WhatsApp group. Users with an earlier version are not added to the group.
