Capturing Customer’s App Screen Name

⚠️ Customers must log in to view this topic.

To archive the App Screen Name, it is essential to comply with personal data privacy laws, which protect users' personal data, such as their name. This data can only be accessed after the user has been added to your customer list and has accepted the request.

After the user accepts, a request is made to Tencent to sync the profile data. The authorization and data typically take 5 to 10 minutes to be received, depending on traffic. During this interval, any messages sent will not include the profile data, as shown by an ‘Unknown’ value in the archive.

Messages sent after this time interval will include the App Screen Name, as demonstrated in the following image:

When users in a group chat have not consented to archiving, the screen name may be displayed as ‘Unknown’. Generally, WeChat users are archived in the format of WeChat_screen_name WeChatID@archive.archive.telemessage.com.

For example: “John wm5axzCwAApreFnkDmayLsxournw-3Vw” <“John wm5axzCwAApreFnkDmayLsxournw-3Vw”@archive.archive.telemessage.com>

In group chats where not all users have provided consent for archiving, the screen name is replaced with ‘Unknown’ until the user provides direct consent in a one-on-one chat. The WeChatID will remain correct, but the screen name will be obscured.
