Android Capture is a lightweight archiving application installed on an Android mobile device that captures SMS, MMS, and voice calls.
Employees make use of the native Android applications on their mobile devices to send or receive messages and make calls. Android Capture operates in the background, gathering data without requiring any input from the user. This application transfers the collected data to the organization's secondary storage repository.
Android Capture does not limit the duration of voice calls. By default, all call recordings are delivered as MP3 files in the Mono, 16 bit, or 32 kbps format to the archive. To customize the data format, contact your Smarsh account manager.
The minimum Android OS version required for SMS and MMS archiving is Jelly Bean 4.1x.
You can use the Android Capture when your organization:
Needs to record employees' SMS, MMS, and voice calls.
Needs to capture mobile communication data outside the United States of America.
Has corporate devices for employees.
Wants to manage, control, archive, and secure Android devices.
You can choose to archive the captured communication to a supported third-party storage destination. To archive the captured communication, inform the Smarsh onboarding team during onboarding.
Self-Onboarding
You can self-onboard Android Capture users to Capture Mobile through the Capture Mobile Admin Portal. Once your organization is provisioned, you will receive a Welcome email from Smarsh.
