Migrating from iOS App Center to iOS Unlisted or ABM App

This topic explains how you can migrate from the App Center version of WhatsApp Phone Capture to the unlisted or Apple Business Manager (ABM) version.

Important

Chat history is lost when transitioning to the new deployment methods.

Before You Migrate

On the App Center version of the app:

  • Terminate all active communications and keep the app open in the foreground for at least one hour. This ensures that all unarchived communications, including calls, are archived before migration.

  • Ensure that the date and time settings on your device is set to Automatic.

    1. Tap Settings > General > Date & Time.

    2. Select Set Automatically.

  • Enable the WakeUp feature:

    1. Tap Settings > Help.

    2. Enable the Wake Up when app is closed option.

  • Disable two-step verification:

    1. Tap Settings > Account > Two-step verification

    2. If the two-step verification was enabled, tap Turn off.

    3. In the confirmation screen, tap Turn off.

  • Do not log out.

  • Do not uninstall the app.

Migration Steps

Based on your organization's compliance policies, your archive administrator will share the WhatsApp Phone Capture app from ABM or the unlisted app.

  1. Install the WhatsApp Phone Capture app shared by your archive administrator.
    You will see two versions of the same app on your device.

  2. Ensure that the app language is set to English.

    1. Tap Device Settings > Apps > TM WPA > Language.

    2. Select English.

  3. Open the App Center version of the app. While on the Chats screen, leave the app running in the background.

  4. Start the sign-in process on the AMB/Unlisted app by entering your phone number.

  5. Press Next to continue.

    Important

    If you encounter a pop-up that blocks you from accessing the Verify your phone number screen, contact Smarsh support immediately.

    The 6-digit verification code is sent either to the App Center version of the app or by SMS.

  6. Enter the verification code and complete the sign-in process.

  7. After you are successfully signed in to the ABM or Unlisted app, uninstall the App Center version of the app.

Important

Do not tap Log in on the App Center version of the app after you are signed-in to the ABM or Unlisted app.
