This topic explains how to allow background data and permissions, and battery optimization settings required by WhatsApp Capture to operate in the background.

Allowing Background Data

This section explains how to allow background data and permissions on Android and iOS devices.

Android Devices

To ensure there are no background data usage limitation for the WhatsApp Phone Capture app:

  1. Go to Settings > Apps.

  2. Select the WhatsApp app.

  3. Under Usage, tap Mobile data.

  4. Turn on the toggle for the following options:

    • Allow background data usage

    • Allow data usage while Data saver is on

Alternatively:

  1. Go to Settings > Connections> Data usage

  2. Tap Mobile data usage.

  3. Select the WhatsApp app.

  4. Turn on the toggle for the following options:

    • Allow background data usage

    • Allow data usage while Data saver is on

iOS Devices

You can manage background data usage on iOS devices through Background App Refresh. To ensure there are no background data usage limitation for the WhatsApp Phone Capture app:

  1. Go to Settings > General > Background App Refresh

  2. Turn on the toggle for the WhatsApp app.

Ensure that Background App Refresh for the WhatsApp app is not limited to Wi-Fi only.

  1. Go to Settings > General > Background App Refresh.

  2. Tap the Background App Refresh drop-down and enable Wi-Fi & Cellular Data.

To ensure that the WhatsApp app can use cellular data in the background:

  1. Go to Settings > Cellular Data Usage.

  2. Select the WhatsApp app.

  3. Turn on toggle for Cellular Data.

Battery Optimization

Battery-saver settings limit background activities for WhatsApp Capture. This section explains how to optimize the battery-saver settings to ensure WhatsApp Capture is able to receive and synchronize data while in the background.

Android Devices

To optimize battery usage on an Android device and allow background activity:

  • Make sure your device has enough battery power.

  • Enable background app refresh:

    1. Go to Settings > Battery.

    2. Tap Battery usage limits.

    3. Turn off battery usage limits for the WhatsApp app.

iOS Devices

To optimize battery usage on an iOS device and allow background activity:

  • Make sure your device has enough battery power.

  • Disable Low Power Mode manually:

    1. Go to Settings > Battery.

    2. Turn off the toggle for Low Power Mode.
