Telegram Desktop and Web Instructions

This section explains how to use the Telegram Desktop app and web version.

Telegram Desktop

To use the Telegram Desktop app, you must have a mobile Telegram app set up on your phone to verify your identity.

1. Download the Telegram desktop app from https://desktop.telegram.org/ on a browser.

2. Click Show all platforms.

3. Click the desired platform  - Win, Winx64, macOS, or Linux x64 version.
   A .exe set-up file is downloaded.

4. Select the application language and click OK.
   

5. Select the destination location where Telegram Desktop app must be saved and click Next.
   

6. Select the Start menu folder and click Next.
   

7. (Optional) Select the Create a desktop shortcut checkbox and click Next.
   

8. Verify the installation path and other shortcuts, and click Install.
   The application installs.
   

9. Select the Launch Telegram checkbox and click Finish.
   The Telegram Desktop app is installed on your computer.
   

10. Click Start Messaging.

11. You can log in using a QR code or your phone number.

Log in using QR code

1. Open the Telegram app on your mobile.

2. Go to Settings > Devices > Link Desktop Device.

3. Scan the QR code displayed on the browser to log in to Telegram Desktop.
   You are logged in to Telegram Desktop.
   

Log in using Phone Number

1. Click LOG IN BY PHONE NUMBER.
   

2. Select your country from the Country drop-down.

3. Enter your phone number in the Phone Number box.

4. (Optional) Select the Keep me signed in checkbox to stay logged in to Telegram Web.

5. Click Next.
   You will receive a code on your Telegram mobile app.

6. In the Code box, enter the code received.
   You are logged in to Telegram Web.
   

Telegram Web

Telegram Web is a web version of the Telegram app on a desktop browser.

1. Open https://web.telegram.org/ on a desktop browser.

2. You can log in using a QR code or your phone number.

Log in using QR code

1. Open the Telegram app on your mobile.

2. Go to Settings > Devices > Link Desktop Device.

3. Scan the QR code displayed on the browser to log in to Telegram Desktop.
   You are logged in to Telegram Desktop.
   

Log in using Phone Number

1. Click LOG IN BY PHONE NUMBER.
   

2. Select your country from the Country drop-down.

3. Enter your phone number in the Phone Number box.

5. Click Next.
