Installing WeCom

There are three main onboarding scenarios depending on existing app installations:

WeCom Users with Smarsh Enterprise Number

  • Smarsh can allocate a second number (enterprise number ) for the WeCom app.

  • You can signup with the enterprise number rather than with your mobile number.

  • The activation SMS will be sent to your Smarsh Enterprise Number Archive mobile app or Smarsh support will route the SMS to your mobile number.

No WeChat nor WeCom Installed

You will receive an SMS with a WeCom link. Alternatively, you can install WeCom from Google Play or Apple Store.

Android Service using SMS

  1. Smarsh sends an SMS to your android mobile. 

  2. Click the link. In the Download file?, click Download.

  3. Check and store the downloaded file.

Android Service Using Google Play

  1. Install the WeCom app from Google Play.

  2. Locate the WeCom app icon on your device's home screen or app drawer and tap the app icon to launch the WeCom application.

  3. Choose your preferred language by tapping on the desired option.

  4. On the login screen, click Login via Phone.

  5. Click Allow.

  6. Enter your valid phone number in the designated field and tap the Next button to proceed.

  7. Enter the verification code that you received through SMS in the designated field within the app.

  8. Click Agree.

  9. Select a Region.

    Important Notice for users in US and France

    To verify your identity and access the app, you must temporarily select a country other than the United States or France in the Region section (for example, select Canada instead of the United States, or Switzerland instead of France). After completing the identity verification process, you can switch back to your actual location (United States or France).

    If you select the United States or France from the Region dropdown, your identity verification process will be blocked. You will not be able to use your current mobile number to complete the verification required for chatting with WeChat users or contacts outside your organization.

  10. Tap Acknowledge

  11. Click Join Company

    The notification is received:

iOS Service Using SMS

  1. Click the link received through SMS.

  2. Download WeCom.

  3. Click Allow.

  4. Select Language and then WeChat Login.

  5. Enter your mobile number and click Next to log in.

  6. Click Ok to confirm.

  7. Enter the verification code received on your mobile number and click Next.

  8. Click It's me. Log in now. to verify your identity.

  9. Click OK to allow WeCom to access your contacts.

WeChat App Installed Without WeCom App

You must use the WeChat app to scan the invitation QR code received from the Smarsh support.

  1. On your WeChat app, click Scan

  2. Scan the QR code. 

    Note

    To invite a user to a WeCom account from the WeChat app using a QR code, the account admin must go to the list of contacts and click the WeChat Invitation option at the top.

  3. Click Join the Company

  4. Click Download WeCom

  5. Click Download

  6. Select Language and then WeChat Login.

  7. Click Join company.

  8. Click OK.

Switching to Smarsh Company from an Installed WeCom App

  1. On the WeCom app, click Settings

  2. Click on company name. 

  3. Click OK
