Issue: When a new group was created, the “Left group chat” event was archived for the group creator and all group members.

Fix: The code is modified to not archive the “Left group chat” event when a new group is created.

• WhatsApp Phone Capture for iOS is enhanced to offer better  performance and maintainability, along with minor updates to the  archiving templates.

• The Signature message is now sent and archived as individual message.

• When  the number of participants in a Broadcast, Group, Community  (Announcements), Status (AKA Story), Group Call, or Conference Call is  greater than 50, the number of participants displayed in the TO field of the archived message is limited to 50. The complete list of participants is displayed in the TO (Recipients list) of the message body.

  • For chats with less than 50 participants, the TO (Recipients list) in the message body is a duplicate of the TO field.

Issue: During sign in, while users await the verification code, the following error message is displayed:

Fix: To handle this error during sign in:

1. If you see the following message, keep the app open and wait for the verification code via SMS. 

2. If you don't receive an SMS in three minutes and the "Get 6-digit code via Call" option appears, tap on it to receive the verification code by call.

3. If you still encounter the 1-hour loop issue, contact Smarsh support.

Issue: Notifications for some incoming messages are not received when the application is running in the background and the Wake Up setting is turned off in the app.

Fix: The code is modified to receive notifications for all incoming messages when the application is running in the background and the Wake Up setting is turned off in the application.

KNOWN ISSUES

• When a user edits an image they have sent, WhatsApp Phone Capture archives the original image and not the edited version.

• When a user shares a recorded HD video, the file might not be archived if the file size exceed 25 MB. This issue will be resolved in the upcoming versions with file compression logic.

Issue: Users encountered the account reset screen and were unable to log in to the app despite multiple sign-in attempts.

Fix: The code is modified to fix this issue. To log in, the user must:

1. Upgrade or install the latest version.

2. Open the app and follow the regular process to sign in.
   The user encounters the account reset screen.

3. Close and reopen the app.

4. Follow the regular process to sign in.

5. Enter the 6-digit verification code.
   The user is successfully logged in.

Occasionally, if the user cannot log in, the RESET Failed screen is displayed.

Users must tap Send Logs to share the application logs with Smarsh support.

Issue: Sometimes, users do not receive real-time notification for incoming calls and only see a missed call notification instead.

Fix: The code is modified to display real-time notification for incoming calls at all times.

WhatsApp Phone Capture is enhanced with a silent registration feature for those users who use passkeys to register to the application. If users cannot successfully register to the app through silent registration, the Archiving Issue Detected pop-up is displayed blocking communication until the issue is resolved. Contact Smarsh Support or your Account Manager for assistance.

The enhancement will be further worked upon in the upcoming releases.

Note

WhatsApp Phone Capture for iOS does not support passkey creation.

When a user deactivates a community, the "Left group chat" activity is not archived for either the community members or the user who deactivated the community.

• A new server setting is introduced to disable saving photos from WhatsApp Phone Capture to the device Photos app. To disable saving photos from WhatsApp Phone Capture to the Photos app, send a request to your Account Manager or initiate an Onboarding case. An administrator will enable the setting for your organization.

  Note

  Users can modify the Save to Photos setting for individual chats and set it to Always. However, if the Save to Photos setting is disabled by the administrator, the photos in the chat are not saved to the device's Photos app.

• WhatsApp Phone Capture for iOS is enhanced to include an option for users to send logs when they encounter the "An error has occurred." screen.  

• The application wallpaper is changed to display the wallpaper from the native WhatsApp application.

• WhatsApp Phone Capture is enhanced to manage a restriction from Meta during the sign-in process. As a part of this enhancement, a pop-up with the message "Your account is undergoing a reset. Please wait momentarily and refrain from closing the app" is displayed. The pop-up closes automatically. Users will receive an OTP using which they can complete the sign-in process. 

• When audio or video calls are disabled by the administrator, and a user creates a call link or joins a call using a link, a pop-up with the following message is displayed:
  "Audio Calls are disabled by your Company Archive Administrator." 
  "Video Calls are disabled by your Company Archive Administrator." 
  The user must tap OK to dismiss the pop-up.

A new server setting is introduced to disable communication with Meta AI. To disable communication with Meta AI, send a request to your Account Manager. An administrator will disable the setting for your organization.

• After the administrator disables communication with Meta AI, the Meta AI icon is not displayed to users.

• If a user has an existing conversation thread with Meta AI, they will lose access to the thread once communication with Meta AI is disabled. The user can manually delete the conversation thread in WhatsApp Phone Capture.

WhatsApp Phone Capture is enhanced to set business hours for each day during which users receive notifications for incoming messages and calls. This allows users to conserve battery during off-peak hours. The notifications are received based on the configured battery usage settings.

To set business hours:

1. Ensure that automatic wake-up is activated.

2. Tap Wake up business hours.

   Note

   To set wake up business hours, you must activate automatic wake up. If automatic wake up is disabled while you set wake up business hours, the following message is displayed:

   

   The Wake up business hours window appears.
   

3. Toggle the Activate Business Hours option to ON.

4. Set the business hours schedule for each day.

   1. Tap each day of the week to enable wake up business hours for that day.

   2. Set the From and To time between which notifications are received for all incoming messages and calls.  

You will receive notifications for incoming messages and calls between the set business hours each day, based on the configured battery usage settings.

ADDED

When the file size of a call recording exceeds 25 MB, the call recording file is not archived. The below notification is displayed in the archive, followed by the call logs:

"Total attachments size XXXX exceeds the 25 MB maximum attachment size limit.

File name: <file_name.mp3> was removed.”

• Issue: When outgoing broadcast messages were archived, the GROUP_NAME and GroupID X-Headers were empty.
  Fix: The issue is resolved to populate the value of the GROUP_NAME and GroupID X-Headers for outgoing broadcast messages in the archive.

• Issue: When a user joined a WhatsApp group, occasionally the Join event was not archived.
  Fix: The issue is resolved to archive the Join event when a user joins a WhatsApp group.

WhatsApp Phone Capture is enhanced to support incoming WhatsApp API messages. The following communication types are archived:

ENHANCED

• WhatsApp Phone Capture is enhanced to display the battery usage percentage in the Help menu. To view the battery usage percentage:

  1. Open the app.

  2. Tap Settings > Help. 

• When an administrator disables audio or video calls for users, a pop-up with the following message appears when a user attempts an audio or video call:
  "Audio Calls are disabled by your Company Archive Administrator." 
  "Video Calls are disabled by your Company Archive Administrator." 
  The user must tap OK to dismiss the pop-up.  

• A new server setting is introduced to disable backing up chat history to iCloud on iOS devices. To disable chat history back up to iCloud, send a request to your Account Manager or initiate an Onboarding case. Only an administrator can enable this setting for your organization.

• WhatsApp Phone Capture is enhanced to archive WhatsApp broadcast events.

  1. The archive subject line is prefixed with STATUS.

  2. All recipients are mentioned in the TO (Recipients list) section of the message body. 

• WhatsApp Phone Capture is enhanced to archive the file name and caption of attachments. The caption message is prefixed with Caption in the message body.

• Issue: The event of changing a WhatsApp channel name was not archived.
  Fix: The issue is resolved to archive the event when a user changes a WhatsApp channel name. The message body displays the old and new names, and the Group ID of the channel. 

• Issue: WhatsApp Phone Capture archives two separate calls as a single call when a user taps End & Accept to receive an incoming call while engaged in another call.
  Fix: The issue is resolved to create a separate archive for each call.

• Issue: The X-Header group name and group ID were empty for group calls.
  Fix: The issue is resolved to archive the X-Headers group name and group ID for group calls as follows:

• Issue: Community Join and Leave events were archived each time a user reinstalled the app. This resulted in duplicate Join and Leave events for a user in the archive.
  Fix: The issue is resolved to avoid duplicate events for Join and Leave events each time after a user reinstalls the application.

• Issue: WhatsApp Phone Capture created duplicate archives for some reaction events after a user reinstalls the application and restores chat history from backup.
  Fix: The issue is resolved to avoid duplicate events for some reaction events after a user reinstalls the application and restores chat history from backup.
